Privacy Policy
Last updated July 21, 2026
Welcome to Planta. This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) explains how Planta handles your personal information when you use our platform, visit our website, or interact with us. By becoming a member and having an account or continuing to use Planta, you agree to this Policy and to the Terms of Service. If you don’t agree, don’t use Planta.
If you choose to join Planta from an Event Hub, this Policy governs your relationship with Planta from then on.
Terms with capital letters not defined herein have the meaning assigned to them on the Terms of Service.
Uma versão em português desta Politica de Privacidade está disponível mediante solicitação: privacy@planta.network.
1. What is Planta?
Planta (“Planta”, “We”, or “Planta Network”) is a discreet and proactive relationship network. It surfaces (re)connection opportunities that lead to real conversations and outcomes at events, and keeps them alive between editions.
2. Who we are and who’s responsible
Planta is responsible for the data it collects, generates, and processes about you. Depending on how you were invited and how an Event is structured, a Host may also be responsible for data they collected and shared with us.
3. What we collect and where it comes from
- From the Host. When a Host invites you to an Event, they share registration data through a list they provide (the List, as defined in the Terms) — typically your name, email, phone, job title, company, professional profile URL, a short bio, RSVP status, and answers to Event fields. They may also share context to help design the Event. The Host is responsible for sharing this lawfully and/or for disclosing the use of Planta at registration, as applicable.
- From external sources. Using what the Host shared, we add professional context from third-party sources — the kind of information found on a professional network, a company page, or a conference badge.
- From you. Your conversations with Porter, your own relationships agent, through text and voice; updates to your Profile and preferences; and your activity on Planta — browsing the Directory, requesting or accepting connections, and the details you add to a connection request. By using voice with Porter, you consent to the processing and storage of the resulting audio and transcript.
- Automatically. Technical and usage data — IP address, browser and device information, and the pages and features you use.
- When you contact us. What you share when you reach out — your name, contact details, and your message. If we ever record a call, we tell you and ask first.
- When you visit our website. Standard web data when you browse planta.co (see Section 11), and any details you leave through the chat there — for example, to talk to us, stay in the loop, refer a Host, or become a Host yourself. If someone referred you, that’s how we came to have your details. If you chat with us or submit a form, we collect and use what you share to respond and follow up, whether or not you’ve accepted cookies. Cookie choices control tracking, not the details you actively send us.
- From other participants. Someone may mention you in a connection request or their preferences, or have you as a connection opportunity. That information is part of their record and visible only to them.
- Prospects, demos, and sales. If you’re a prospective Host, partner, or contact, or already someone in our CRM: what you share in calls and demos, and context from public sources, referrals, and our prospecting tools. If your data appears in a demo or evaluation environment, it is only for that demonstration. If we record a demo or sales call, we tell you and ask first, and we may keep a transcript.
Sensitive information. We do not seek sensitive personal information, such as government identifiers, financial account details, health data, or information about racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, or religious beliefs. Please don’t share it through Porter or our other channels. If you choose to share it anyway, it may be collected as part of our interactions, and we handle it under this Policy.
Everything we collect about you as a member feeds your Dossier (as defined in the Terms).
4. How we use your data
- Your Dossier and Profile. We build your private Dossier and, from it, the Profile other participants can see. Over time, your Dossier is designed to compound across Events to improve your experience building only from your own engagement.
- Connection opportunities. We surface people worth meeting and a reason to connect, based on your Dossier, your Profile, what you tell Porter, and your track record on Planta.
- Directory. We make Profiles browsable in the Directory so you can explore who’s taking part.
- Event facilitation. We give Hosts simplified insights and facilitation support to run their Events.
- Reaching you and messaging. We use your contact details to reach you across WhatsApp and email — service messages tied to your connection experience, and, with an easy opt-out or unsubscribe link, product updates and occasional marketing. If you’re a member, we may also reach out about other ways to take part in Planta.
- Supporting and following up. We respond to you and provide support, handle your privacy requests, follow up with people who contact us, leave their details on our website, or are referred to us, and evaluate fit with prospective Hosts and partners.
- Improving Planta. We improve our systems, including our connection orchestration and facilitation models (see Section 7).
- Analytics, security, and compliance. To understand usage, protect against fraud and abuse, meet legal obligations, and handle your requests.
Some features are still evolving; anything materially new will be disclosed before it is activated. For the legal basis behind each use, see Section 5.
5. Legal bases
We rely on your consent, contractual necessity, our legitimate interests, and legal obligations, depending on the context and where you live.
If you’re a prospect, lead, referrer, or on our waitlist, we process your business contact details to grow Planta — following up, keeping you posted, and telling you about Planta and relevant events — and every message includes an opt-out.
For participants, in practice:
- When a Host invites you to an Event, we process your registration and the professional context we assemble to prepare and run the Event. Depending on how the Host set it up, Planta handles this either on its own account or on the Host’s behalf until you engage.
- Once you engage, you’re with Planta directly — this covers your registration record, Porter conversations, Profile updates, and ongoing use — and you can withdraw your agreement at any time.
- If you never engage (when Planta wasn’t disclosed at registration and you did not engage with Planta), we keep only a minimal reference inside the record of a member who was connected to you, to support that member’s relationships. It stays confined to that relationship, and you can object at any time at privacy@planta.network.
6. Who we share your data with
Core principle. Whoever the recipient they only ever receive simplified, curated outputs. This does not apply to the service providers we use to run Planta.
- Other participants. Your Profile is visible in the Event Directory — name, job title, company, and Profile summary — along with personalized reasons to connect. Contact details are shared only after both people accept a connection, unless otherwise agreed with the Host.
- Hosts. Through the dashboard, the Host receives simplified, curated, and sometimes anonymized outputs — Event activity and connection insights, facilitation data, and the feedback Porter gathers — including across Events they run. The Host uses these outputs for their own purposes, such as running the Event, understanding what happened, and designing future editions, and is responsible for that use. The Host may use them only to run, understand, and improve its Events, must honor your choices including any opt-out, and may share them with others only in aggregated, non-identifying form. When available, any detailed, personal specifics about an outcome are shared with the Host only if you choose to.
- Sponsors. Some Events include sponsors. They take part as participants and may appear in the Directory.
- Service providers. We use vetted providers for enrichment, AI processing, messaging, support, storage, monitoring, analytics, and marketing. A current list is available at privacy@planta.network.
6.1 Legal Disclosure
Planta may share your information if, in good faith, We consider it reasonably necessary to: (a) respond, under applicable law or regulations, to legal process or government requests; (b) enforce this Policy, the Terms, and other applicable terms and policies, including to investigate potential violations; (c) detect, investigate, prevent, or address fraud and other illegal activity, or technical or security issues; or (d) protect the rights, property, and safety of participants, Planta, or others.
6.2 Business Transfers
If We enter into a merger, acquisition, or sale, your data may be shared with the relevant parties to the extent necessary to complete the transaction. We may also share your information with an affiliate of Planta.
7. Improving Planta
Planta may use your data to improve its platform and services, including to train its algorithms and improve its intelligence systems. You can opt out at any time at privacy@planta.network or through self-service when available. Opting out does not affect your access.
8. Retention and deletion
8.1 While you’re active.
We keep your information for as long as your account is active, or as long as the law requires. The longer you use Planta, the more useful it gets.
8.2 What you can delete.
You’re in control. You can delete your account, your Profile from one particular Event, request that your prior Dossier is not used at certain event, or even not record your information at certain Event on your Dossier, by contacting privacy@planta.network. Self-service options through the platform may also be available.
Some things you shared with others or even the minimum information shared on your profile may stay as that member’s relationship memory: only they see it, it’s never used to contact, market to, or profile you, and it’s removed if you ask.
We may also keep limited backups for recovery and legal purposes.
9. Your rights
9.1 Everyone.
Wherever you live, you can always:
- Access your data, and request a copy of what we hold about you;
- Correct it, by contacting us or through the platform when self-service is available;
- Delete your account and data, at privacy@planta.network or through self-service when available;
- Object to or limit certain processing;
- Withdraw consent;
- Request a portable copy in a structured, machine-readable format;
- Edit your Profile and preferences at any time;
- Stop WhatsApp messages by replying STOP or by unsubscribing to any email (this limits your access but does not delete your account),
- Ask how your Profile or a suggestion was generated, and request human review of any AI output.
To exercise any right, contact privacy@planta.network. We may need to verify your identity first, and you may designate an authorized agent to act for you.
Where a Host shares responsibility for some of your data, we work together with the Host to handle your request, according to each party’s role.
9.2 US residents.
If you live in a US state with a privacy law (such as California), you may also know what we collect and share, opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, limit the use of sensitive information, and not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. As part of delivering the service, Planta provides Hosts with Event-related insights derived from your data, and may share data with advertising and marketing platforms. Regardless of how these activities are characterized under applicable law, you can opt out by contacting privacy@planta.network or using the preference center when available. We process your request within 15 business days. Opting out does not affect your access to core services.
9.3 EU and UK residents.
If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, you also have rights to rectification, erasure, restriction, objection to legitimate-interest processing, portability, and withdrawal of consent, and you can lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing we carried out before you withdrew it.
9.4 Other jurisdictions.
If you live somewhere with its own data protection law (such as Argentina or Brazil), you have similar rights under local law. We respond within 15 days for Brazil and 30 days elsewhere.
10. Security
We implement technical and organizational security measures appropriate to our stage of development, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), encrypted storage, and role-based access controls.
No internet system is completely secure. Use of the platform constitutes acceptance that some residual risk exists.
In the event of a confirmed security breach affecting your data, We will notify you and relevant authorities without undue delay and in any case no later than 72 hours after becoming aware of the breach.
11. Cookies and tracking
11.1 Essential cookies.
Used to keep you logged in and the service working. Required, and no consent needed.
11.2 Non-essential cookies.
For anything non-essential (analytics, session recording, engagement tracking, support, marketing) we ask for your prior consent, on both the platform and the website, before it runs. You can grant or withdraw consent anytime. Declining doesn’t affect your access or your ability to browse the site, and it doesn’t stop us from handling what you actively send us, such as a chat message or a form you submit.
11.3 US residents.
If you’re a US resident, even when you may be asked to opt in first, you can opt out at any time (see Section 9.2), or through the preference center when available.
11.4 Do Not Track.
We do not respond to “Do Not Track” browser signals.
12. AI
Planta is powered by AI throughout. You can edit your Profile, accept or ignore any suggestion, and request human review of any AI output.
AI providers. We use third-party AI providers to deliver AI features. Each provider operates under its own terms, privacy policies, and data retention practices. A current list is available upon request at privacy@planta.network.
Human oversight. Planta maintains a level of human supervision over AI-generated outputs to help assure the quality of connections and facilitation support. Planta’s team may review, adjust, or override AI-generated outputs in certain cases as part of supporting the design and delivery of the Event experience. If you believe an AI-generated output has had a significant effect on you, contact privacy@planta.network and We will review your case with human involvement.
Voice. When available, Porter interactions may include voice calls. By initiating a voice interaction with Porter, you consent to the processing and storage of the resulting conversation data.
13. Children and legal capacity
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement where you live. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If We learn someone under 18 has used Planta, We will delete their data and end their access promptly. If you believe a minor has used the platform, notify us at privacy@planta.network.
14. Third-party links
Planta may link to sites We do not operate. Their own privacy policies apply, and We are not responsible for their practices.
15. Where we operate and international transfers
Planta is based in the United States. We store and process personal information in the United States, and our service providers may do the same.
If you use Planta or contact us from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., where privacy laws may differ from, and offer less protection than, those where you live. By using Planta or sending us your information, you acknowledge this transfer.
16. Governing Law and Disputes
This Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, as well as other applicable privacy laws where you are located. If you are in a jurisdiction with mandatory consumer or data protection laws, those laws apply and are not displaced by this clause. You may contact your local authority too.
For dispute resolution procedures, including good-faith resolution, jurisdiction, and class action waiver, see the Terms of Service.
17. Changes to this Policy
We may amend this Policy from time to time. If We make material changes, We will notify you through the platform, by WhatsApp, email, or by other means, to give you the opportunity to review the changes before they take effect.
If you do not agree with any changes, you may delete your account. Continuing to use Planta after We publish or send notice about changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy as of its effective date.

What’s new · July 21, 2026
We rewrote this Policy to be shorter, plainer, and easier to read. What we do with your data didn’t change; we describe it more fully. The main addition is that we now cover the full journey, not just what happens at an Event, including sales conversations, website visitors, and referrals.
